Two-factor authentication – when no wifi and no cell service on your phone
Microsoft Authenticator app includes an RSA Key Generator, and it will work for authenticating your two-factor authentication, even if your mobile phone isn’t connected to any service. This can easily be the case during airplane travel when you can pay for wifi service for your laptop, but not your mobile phone at the same time.
NOTE: The following assumes that you have already downloaded and installed the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app into your mobile phone. For more information on Microsoft Authenticator, go to https://helpcenter.usawest.org/hc/en-us/articles/360016287834-O365-Two-factor-Authentication-with-MS-Authenticator
1. Go to any Office 365 app like the home page (https://home.usawest.org).
2. When prompted for authentication, just select Sign in another way…
3. Then select Use a verification code from my mobile app.
4. Type in the code currently displayed in the MS Authenticator app on your mobile phone.
Note: If you open your MS Authenticator app, you’ll see this code that changes every 30 seconds. You can use that code to confirm your two-factor authentication when prompted.
