Once the architect's contract is prepared, review the contract to determine if all variables have been completed. Confirm that the maximum value for the service is specified. Verify the limit to the service is provided not just the hourly rate.
An addendum is required to be prepared as part of the AIA Contract form B141. The following statement is required on the signature page referencing the addendum.
Attached Addendum to Architect's Agreement is included as part of this agreement.
The addendum is the last page of the contract and defines the owner as The Salvation Army, a California Corporation location in Long Beach, CA; states that all blueprints, schematics, etc., are required to be approved by the Territorial Property Council; the local representative does not have authority to make changes; and finally, all change orders are required to have the approval of the Territorial Property Council.
Note: Contracts without this reference are not accepted.
